Meeting Report

We held the Export /International Credit Forum at Moore Stephens, London on the 25th September

After introductions and updates we started with a Geographic Focus on Asia. The members had requested specific countries: China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand & Turkey.

Presented by Andrew Child, Director, Global Clients Group – Marsh Trade Credit, he gave an overview of each country including the risks of doing business, what you need to know when starting to trade (economy & politics) and do they pay.

The second session was a Geographic Q&A. Where members asked questions about countries globally and shared their experiences, tips & tricks.

Then onto Compliance Checking  – Knowing Your Customer. A very interesting and thought provoking session by John Lord CEO of TruNarrative. We followed this with a members workshop on Training & Developing. We discussed Who they use, What they do and How they do it to train their teams. The outcome provided some very interesting experiences and ideas.

The final session: The Applications of Machine Learning in Credit Risk. Traditional corporate credit scoring – financial ratios. What is machine learning? Why does it work? Applications: Learning from the language that companies use in their financial reports and matching directors at Companies House.

A very successful meeting with lots of information provided by subject matter experts together with sharing of members experiences.
